What We Are Looking For:

Academics

We are looking for dedicated students who have proven their commitment to academics as demonstrated by their grades and class standing. There is no minimum GPA for the scholarship, however, grades will be a factor in the judging - we are looking for students who are committed to their education.

Leadership

Education is meaningless unless you do something with it! We are looking for proven leaders who will use their education to make the world a better place. This will be judged based on extracurricular activities, volunteerism, and leadership position held while in high school.

Global Citizenship

A global citizen is an individual who goes beyond trying to improve their own lives and their communities, but works to better their world as a whole. As an International Baccalaureate school, RHS strives to build global citizens who will be conscious of the world around them and the issues that it faces. It is not required that applicants be a part of the IB program, only that they demonstrate a sincere desire to make the world a better place. Global citizenship will be judged based on applicant essays.

True Texans

A true Texan takes pride in their school and their community. We are looking for applicants that embody the fighting Texan Spirit through volunteerism, participation in activities outside of school, and commitment to academics.

Requirements

In addition to demonstrating all of the qualities above, applicants must:

  • Be a graduating senior at W.B. Ray High School.

  • Enroll in an accredited 2 year or 4 year University, in pursuit of either a Bachelor’s or Associate’s/Vocational degree in the fall immediately following graduation - selected applicants must maintain a minimum college enrollment of 12 credit hours per semester.

  • Must submit an application packet with all supporting materials by the deadline.
